Mother Tongue

The performance combines contemporary music, video, and spoken text, fostering intercultural dialogue within an immersive concert experience. Featuring pieces by young and more established composers living outside their birth countries, the continuous format alternates string quartets with pre-recorded audio and video interviews, exploring the connection between music and migration, music and cultural identity. The project aims to address cultural diversity in music, to connect contemporary music with modern and multicultural audiences. The string quartet becomes the common ground between different people channeling personal perspectives and individual backgrounds into the quartet's powerful organisation.
